Chongqing East Railway Station is one of the largest high-speed railway hubs under construction in China integrating railway infrastructure, urban development, and landscape design. It is also Chongqing’s largest newly built comprehensive transportation hub featuring the integration of four transportation networks. The station has a total construction area of 1.22 million square meters.
Its commercial development plan centers on the concept of station-city integration, combining innovative business formats, interconnected spaces, and industrial ecosystem development. The goal is to create the first gateway for visitors arriving in Chongqing from the east and a new western gateway connecting to the sea. Chongqing East Railway Station officially commenced operations on June 27.
Design Concept and Spatial Layout
The design concept is based on “Super Ring Valley · Miniature Chongqing”, with the core area adopting an integrated “One Tower, One Ring, One Station” layout. The first-phase development covers 188,000 square meters, focusing on four major functions:
Cultural & Exhibition Center
Area: 70,000 square meters
Integrates cultural performances (Silk Road-themed productions combined with digital light-and-shadow technology) with exhibition and convention services including conferences, competitions, and training programs.
Lifestyle Commercial Street District
Area: 26,000 square meters
Combines Chongqing’s local cuisine, shopping, and market experiences, showcasing the unique cultural charm and vibrant lifestyle of the Bayu region.
Star-Rated Hotel Cluster
Area: 51,400 square meters
Provides supporting facilities for conventions, meetings, and tourism accommodation, including luxury hotels and convertible apartment formats.
High-End Apartment & Office Space
Area: 40,000 square meters
Designed to attract corporate headquarters and representative offices, supporting the integration of industry and urban development.

Metro
The Chongqing East Station section of Metro Line 6 starts at Chongqing East Railway Station and connects with Liujiaping Station for same-platform transfers to the existing Line 6. The route spans 6.9 kilometers and includes four stations:

- Baileyuan Station
- Liujiaping Station

Night Bus Services
After regular Route 102 ends service at 9:00 PM, buses will depart every 30 minutes until the arrival of the final high-speed train. Departure frequency may be adjusted flexibly according to passenger volume.
The Chongqing East Station Night Shuttle Express operates between:
Chongqing East Railway Station → Shangxin Street → Ciqi Street
The service begins at 9:00 PM, with rolling departures based on passenger demand until the final train arrives.
Taxi and Ride-Hailing Services
Chongqing East Railway Station features:

Using Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence technologies, the smart transportation hub system provides a more user-friendly experience. Display screens in the taxi waiting areas allow passengers to monitor:

- Queue length
- Estimated waiting time
Dedicated passenger waiting and parking areas are also available for ride-hailing services. Through large electronic display screens, passengers can easily check whether their ride-hailing vehicle has arrived and its parking location, enabling efficient coordination between passengers and vehicles and creating a more convenient, orderly, and comfortable travel experience.
